November 2016

Welcome autumn!  This month we will be learning about the amazing changes fall brings.  We will discover how the leaves change color and what crops are harvested during this season.  Towards the end of the month we will learn about the First Thanksgiving and we will share what we are grateful for.

Our letters are F, C, and L.  Our color is orange and our shape for the month is a triangle.  Our virtue is grateful.

A fun poem we are learning goes like this:

Five little squirrels sat in a tree.
This little squirrel asked, “What do you see?”
This little squirrel said, “My eyes are shut!”
This little squirrel said, “I’m looking at a nut!”
This little squirrel said, “One fell on my head!”
This little squirrel said, “Let’s just go to bed!”
Then “whoo” went the owl and “rustle” went the leaves,
And the 5 little squirrels scampered down the tree.

Happy Thanksgiving!

October 2016

Our school year has gotten off to a colossal start as we learned about dinosaurs in September.  We have also been busy making friends and learning classroom routines and rules.

The Lambs worked on letters S, D, E, and learned that blue and yellow make green.  We discovered that the carnivore dinosaurs had sharp teeth and claws to eat meat and the herbivore dinosaurs had flat, blunt teeth for chewing and tearing plants.  We also learned the meaning of extinct and that the dinosaurs are extinct.  Ask your child about dinosaurs and see what they can tell you.

A fun poem we learned last month was:

Five huge dinosaurs, looking fierce and mean;
The first one said, “I eat things that are green.”
The second one said, “I hatch from an egg.”
The third one said, “I have big, strong legs.”
The fourth one said, “I can fly through the air.”
The fifth one said, “I give everyone a scare.”
STOMP, STOMP went Tyrannosaurus Rex that day,
And the five little dinosaurs all ran away!

In October our theme will be “AT NIGHT!” We will be learning about what happens at night and learning about nocturnal animals.  At the end of the month we will be creating decorations and getting ready for some Halloween fun!

Our virtue this month is “RESPONSIBLE”.  Our color is black and our shape is the circle.  Our letters will be N, O, R, and H.

Enjoy the changing of the season this month!
Teacher Katie and Teacher Aida

May 2016

In April we had a whale of a good time! We learned about some of the animals that live in tide pools like barnacles and clams. We learned that dolphins and whales are mammals, not fish.

Our mommies are out of this world! So in May our themes will be Mother’s Day and Outer Space! The Little Lambs are working hard on many special surprises to give to our moms at the Mother’s Day Tea/lunch on Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6. Please be sure to check the date on your invitation, mark your calendar, and RSVP to Teacher Katie.

Later in the month we will have out of this world fun as we learn about SPACE! Our color will be purple, our shape is diamond and our virtue is DETERMINATION!

It has been such a joy to watch each Little Lamb learn and grow this year!

Happy Mother’s Day!
Teacher Katie and Teacher Aida

We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Feb. 11 and Feb. 12.  Please send valentines for your child to share with their classmates.  If they attend one day send 16 cards.  If your child attends both days please send 32.  Please have your child sign the card, but leave the TO section blank.  This really helps “mailing” them easier.

Feb. 18 and 19 we will be celebrating 100 days of school!  To help create a special snack, please help your child count out 100 items to go into a trail mix. (plain m&m’s, goldfish crackers, raisins, mini marshmallows, etc.)  No peanut or nut items. Everything will be mixed together to share.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
