Little Lions

Dear Lions Families,

You’ll surely “fall” in love with what our pride of Lions have been busy learning this month. We’ve had a great time learning all about Thanksgiving traditions and how to be thankful. Additionally, we’ve also had fun welcoming Autumn by learning all about pumpkins!

Some fun facts we learned this month: Did you know that a male turkey is called a tom, a female turkey is called a hen and a young turkey is called a poult. You might be surprised to know, only male turkeys gobble.  Female turkeys make more of a clicking sound.

Some books we have enjoyed are: “Thanksgiving at the Tappletons” by Eileen Spinelli, ‘Turkey Trouble’ by Wendi Silvano, ‘There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey’ by Lucille

Colandro, ‘How to Catch a Turkey’ by Adam Wallace and ‘The Runaway Pumpkin’ by Kevin Lewis.

You know what little learners love most? Music and moving around! We’ve learned three new Fall songs so we can get our wiggles out while having some fun! The children get to choose from three different songs at circle time: Grey Squirrel, 5 Little Pumpkins and Autumn Leaves. They love singing all three!

Our letters this month are I, C and U.  Our color is brown.  Our shape is rhombus. Our virtue is thankful.

In December the theme will be Christmas and the letters are O & Q.  Our shape will be a triangle. Our color will be red.  Our virtue will be giving!

Lastly, our children are very excited about bringing home their pumpkin-turkey centerpiece for Thanksgiving. They’ve put lots of effort and patience into making these beautiful turkeys.  They look terrific!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!  Wishing you a harvest of blessings, good health and good times.

With gratitude always,
Teacher Lisa and Teacher Jane
