Admitting Our Sin Is Hard, Forgiveness Is Abundant

Apr 08, 2018

Passage: 1 John 1:1-2:2

Preacher: Jon Coyne

Summary:

Admitting Our Sin Is Hard, Forgiveness Is Abundant – 1 John 1:1 – 2:2 One of the biggest problems with sin is that we do not like to admit to ourselves that we have done wrong in our lives. We do not like to admit that we make mistakes, do things wrong on purpose, and even defy God’s will because it seems more enjoyable. It is much easier to point out the sins of others. It is much easier to think that other people suffer and struggle because of their sins, but we do not. Today in the reading from First John, we catch a glimpse of how confession works when Jesus, our advocate, stands before God after making the atoning sacrifice for our sins, “but also for the sins of the whole world.”
