Growing Tigers

January 2022

Our theme this month has been Winter/Hibernation. Our letters are J, D, P, and B. Our color is blue, our shape is a square, our number is five and our virtue is respectful.

Our poem this month is:

A chubby little snowman, had a carrot nose,
along came a bunny, and what do you suppose?
That hungry little bunny, looking for his lunch,
ate the snowman‘s carrot nose, CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH!!

Two of our favorite books this month have been Ice in the Jungle by Ariane Hoffman-Maniyar and All you need is Love by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.  After reading this book, Teacher Robin pulled up a video of the Beatles singing this song. One child mentioned he had heard this song at home! We really do need more love in our lives!!

In science we talked about rain, ice and snow. We used tools and salt to melt the ice to get our winter animals out. We also made snow from Insta Snow Powder. The kids loved watching it grow in their cups. Our weekly reader was also centered around snow.

We have also been working on our Donuts with Dad projects, stay tuned!

The Tigers class will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Monday, February 14 and Tuesday, February 15! Please have your child bring 18 valentines for Monday if they come and 18 valentines for Tuesday if they come. Have your child practice writing their name in the “from” section. Please leave the “to” section blank. This makes it easier for them to just walk around and deliver a valentine to each child’s bag.

We will put a valentine party sign-up sheet out soon.

Blessings,
Teacher Robin and Teacher Katie C.
