Little Bears

January 2022

Posted on

I’m a little snowman round and fat,

With a carrot nose and a big black hat.

I like to play outside on a snowy day,

Until the sun melts me away.

During January, our classroom turned into a winter wonderland! We learned about all the changes that winter brings; winter clothing, snow and ice, hibernation, polar bears and penguins, weather changes and many more chilly facts!

We learned that snow is millions, billions, and trillions of snowflakes piled up together and  snowflakes are crystals with six sides. We also learned the Snowshoe Hare changes his brown summer coat to a white winter coat. Reindeer grow long horns called antlers. Polar bears live in the Arctic, their babies are called cubs. Emperor penguins live in a cold icy place called Antarctica.

We enjoyed reading, “Snowman Year Around”, “What Snowman do at Night”, “I am Snow”, “Little Penguin”, “Little Polar Bear”, “Sleep Big Bear”, “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you Hear?”, “Snow Friends” and “The Snowy Day”.

In the month of January we worked on:

Letter: M, N, O, and P
Color: white
Shape: octagon
Virtue: respectful

In February we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Monday, Feb. 14th and Tuesday, Feb. 15th.

Please send 16 cards for each day your student comes to school. If your student comes both days, they will need 32 cards.

Please only sign your child’s name in the “From” section of each Valentine. This will make passing out the Valentine’s easier.

Happy New Year!!!
